Jayco Herald Sun Tour

Some of the world’s best cyclists will converge on Wangaratta on 7 February 2020 for the Jayco Herald Sun Tour.

The tour is one of the leading cycling events in Australia, giving local riders a chance to compete against the world’s best.

Previous winners include Tour de France winners Chris Froome and Sir Bradley Wiggins. Froome was part of the last tour to pass through Wangaratta in 2017.

This time around Wangaratta will be one of the stop-overs, with cyclists racing 178km from Bright to Wangaratta via Tawonga, Myrtleford and Milawa.

Mayor Dean Rees said the tour would deliver an economic benefit to Wangaratta and reach a national audience.

“This will showcase Wangaratta and the High Country as a premier cycling destination, he said.

“It will deliver yet another major event to Wangaratta in what’s shaping as our most action-packed summer and autumn in history.

“Add this to Nitro Circus, Richmond and Collingwood playing an AFL pre-season match and the 10th anniversary of the Wangaratta Marathon and Fun Run and there really is something for everyone.

“I encourage people to get out and enjoy this great event.”
