Wangaratta Public Cemetery

The Wangaratta Public Cemetery was established in the 1860s and is managed by the Wangaratta Public Cemetery Trust on behalf of the Rural City of Wangaratta.

The Cemetery has a comprehensive database of cemetery information that dates back to 1862. Researchers or family members interested in genealogy can have the records searched. There is a small fee payable for searches of the database.

Operating Hours:

  • Access is available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Staff are on site 7:00am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. It may be arranged to have staff on site outside these hours, though this must be pre-arranged with Cemetery staff, and is subject to availability and out of hours fees.

The municipality also has a number of smaller cemeteries which are managed by community groups.
