Immunisations

Council provides immunisation services through the National Immunisation Program, these services include:

  • vaccinations for infants and children aged 0–5 years and eligible adults.
  • catch-up vaccinations for secondary school students
  • influenza vaccinations for adults and children.
  • free influenza vaccines may be available for eligible people, including:

    • people aged 65 years and over
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
    • people with some medical conditions.

Shingles vaccinations are not available at Council's National Immunisation Program. Please speak with your GP about shingles vaccination.

Immunisation sessions

Sessions are held monthly on Thursdays from 9am to 11am at Wangaratta Children's Services Centre. Session times are in the drop down below.

A $10 administration fee applies, even when the vaccine is free.

Appointments are booked through the Department of Health's Central Immunisation Records Victoria (CIRV).

If this is your first appointment, you will need to create a CIRV account. For future appointments, you can log in to your existing account.

Council only holds records for vaccinations provided through Council-run immunisation sessions. If you were vaccinated by a GP, another healthcare provider or another council, you will need to contact them directly.

View your Immunisation History Statement

You can access your Immunisation History Statement:

  • through myGov by signing in to your Medicare online account
  • using the Express Plus Medicare mobile app
  • by calling the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809 if you cannot access your statement online.

Records for children aged 14 and over

If your child is aged 14 or over, you cannot view their Immunisation History Statement through your account.

Your child will need to access their statement through their own Medicare online account linked to myGov, or contact the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809.

Request a Council immunisation record from before 2016

If you received vaccinations through a Council-run immunisation session before 2016, you can request a copy of your record.

You will need to provide:

  • your name, including your maiden name if applicable
  • your date of birth
  • your phone number
  • your email address if you would like the record emailed to you.

Council provides free vaccinations for Year 7 and Year 10 students through the school immunisation program.

Year 7

  • HPV (Gardasil)
  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (Boostrix)

Year 10

  • Meningococcal ACWY (MenQuadfi)

Did your child miss their vaccination at school?
Book a catch-up appointment at one of Council’s monthly immunisation sessions.

 

 

Council does not provide flu vaccinations at individual workplaces.

Workplaces can encourage their employees to attend Council’s flu vaccination sessions at the Community Room, Wangaratta Children's Services Centre, 1 Handley Street, Wangaratta.

 

 

Influenza vaccinations are available at Council’s monthly immunisation sessions from May until the end of the year.

Bookings are required.

Free influenza vaccinations

The influenza vaccine is free for eligible people, including:

  • children aged six months to under five years
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged six months and over
  • pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
  • people aged 65 years and over
  • people aged six months and over with medical conditions that increase their risk of severe influenza and complications.

A $10 administration fee applies, even when the vaccine is free.
