After two years of dedicated work, the 2023–2025 Grit and Resilience Consortium has officially concluded—leaving behind a strong and lasting contribution to the Wangaratta community. Made up of local service providers and community members, the Consortium has shaped and delivered the Grit and Resilience Program. Through co-designed events, grassroots partnerships, and targeted initiatives, the group has worked to strengthen connection, inclusion, and wellbeing across the region.

To mark the end of their term, an afternoon tea was held at the Rural City of Wangaratta on Wednesday 13th August. Consortium members were formally thanked for their contributions and recognised for the strong foundation they leave behind.

As part of the event, the Consortium handed to the Rural City of Wangaratta a key legacy item: The Social Connection and Inclusion Needs of Wangaratta.

Commissioned in 2024, this community-informed report captures local experiences, highlights strengths and challenges, and outlines priority areas to help guide future efforts. The document is designed to support local groups, organisations, and services in applying for grants, shaping programs, and working together to reduce isolation and build a more inclusive community.

The Grit and Resilience Program will continue with the incoming 2025–2027 Consortium commencing in September 2025. This next group will build on the momentum and insights of their predecessors to further embed connection and inclusion across Wangaratta.
