If you operate an accommodation business you may need to register it with us.
If you house six or more people, annual registration is required. We will also need to conduct an annual inspection. If you house five or less people, you do not need to register your business.

If you provide food and beverages you may require a food registration. Other permits may also apply.
We strongly recommend you speak to one of our Environmental Health Officers about your application. They can give you advice and tips to ensure you complete your application correctly.

One of our Environmental Health Officers will contact you to discuss your application, and arrange a pre-registration inspection of your premises
Once your premises is compliant, you will be issued with a certificate of registration and can commence trading!

Many accommodation premises also require a planning and/or building permit before they can legally operate. If you are unsure, contact us to discuss.
If you plan to sell food as part of your accommodation, you may also need to register as a food business.
If you want to operate a rooming house, you must also apply for a licence via Consumer Affairs Victoria.
