Council Plan 2025-29

The Council Plan 2025–2029 guides Council projects, services, and resource allocation over four years and includes the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP).

 

Over a 12-month period commencing in November 2024, the Council Plan was developed in accordance with Council's deliberative engagement principles. Input was received from over 2,000 people who shared more than 3,200 ideas and suggestions.

 

The Council Plan is structured around four key themes, aligning with feedback from the Community Engagement. These themes are:
  • Community Wellbeing
  • Natural Environment
  • Economy and Tourism, and
  • Infrastructure and Place.
 
Each theme is supported by targeted strategies and initiatives designed to deliver tangible outcomes for the community. Plus is supported by the Community Vision and three underlying guiding principles:
  • Financial Stustainalbily
  • People
  • Communication and Engagement
The Plan incorporates the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP), ensuring that vital community health and wellbeing actions are also prioritised.

A Council Plan is a requirement under Section 90 of the Local Government Act 2020 (the Act) that requires Council to prepare and adopt a Council Plan for a period of at least the next four financial years following a general election, and in accordance with its deliberative engagement practices.

 

Under the Act, the Council Plan must include:

  • Strategic objectives
  • Strategies for achieving those objectives over the next four years
  • Strategic indicators for monitoring the achievement of objectives
