Glenrowan and Hamilton Park Green Bin Collection Change

On display until 12 August 2026, 12:00 PM

To help accommodate the needs of our growing community, Council will be making a change to the Glenrowan and Hamilton Park areas.

Food Organics and Garden Organics (Green) bins are currently collected weekly on Mondays. From Tuesday 4 August, the weekly green bin collection will move to Tuesdays. Please note, this will be a permanent change.

All other bins — Red (General Waste), Yellow (Recycling), and Purple (Glass) bins — will remain on their existing collection cycles and are not affected by this change. We thank the community for their cooperation and assistance during this transition.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my green bin collection day changing?

As our community continues to grow, Council is adjusting some collection routes to help maintain reliable waste services across the municipality using existing resources. To support this, your weekly green bin collection day will move forward by one day.

Why is Council making this change now?

The change is needed to accommodate increasing demand from new properties and ensure collection routes remain safe, efficient, and sustainable. Updating collection schedules now helps Council continue providing reliable services without reducing service levels.

Will my collection frequency change?

No. Your green bin will still be collected weekly, only the collection day is changing.

When will the new collection day start?

The new collection day will commence from Tuesday, 4 August 2026.

Do I need to do anything differently?

Please ensure your green bin is placed out the night before your new scheduled collection day to avoid missing the service.

Will other bin collection days change too?

At this stage, the change only applies to the green bin service in the affected area. If any future service changes are required, Council will provide advance notice.

How were the affected areas selected?

Council reviewed collection routes, travel times, operational efficiency, and future growth areas to identify where adjustments would best support long-term service reliability.

Will this improve the service?

The changes are designed to help Council maintain consistent and reliable collections as the municipality grows, while making the best use of available staffing, vehicles, and operational resources.
