If you are planning or holding an event in Wangaratta, you may need to submit an Event Application. This helps Council understand and support events in our region and ensure they are well-organised, compliant and safe. The Event Application process is used for a wide range of activities, including small public gatherings to large public events. Event Application

If your proposed site is over 500m2 or it will be enclosed by fencing, then you will need to get a Place of Public Entertainment permit (POPE). Reach out to our Building Team to discuss. Email building@wangaratta.vic.gov.au or call 03 5722 0888
If your event requires people to camp overnight, you will need to apply for Camping Permit. You will also need to submit a separate site plan, Risk Management Plan and Emergency Management plan for the campground and facilities.

Remember to submit your application at least:
Event notification: 14 days prior to the event
Minor event: 30 days prior to the event
Medium event: 30 days prior to the event
Marquee event: 90 days prior to the event
Risk Assessments should detail any hazards associated with the venue, your event, and behaviour of your event patrons. Council has example templates for risk assessments that may be used as a starting point.

If you event allows or offers overnight camping on Council owned property, a camping permit is required. These permits will only be issued where approved showers, toilets and laundry facilities are available.
