Swan Street Road Reconstruction

Wangaratta Excavations have been engaged by Rural City of Wangaratta to undertake road reconstruction works on Swan Street, Wangaratta.

Construction will commence on site from Wednesday 5 November with expected completion by 31 March 2026.

During the works there will be a full road closure from the Swan Street Bridge to Steane Street from 10 November 2025 - March 2026.

Traffic management will be in place to allow Residents access to properties during the period of works.

Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place providing notice of the upcoming road closures.

Project Overview:

Road reconstruction works planned between Steane Street and One Mile Creek bridge abutment, Wangaratta
Works include installation of new drainage pipes and pits from One Mile Creek to Larkings Street and Muntz Street intersection

Drainage - Works Timeline:

Drainage works to commence 5 November 2025 - 25 December 2025
Drainage works will start from the One Mile Creek in Cusack Street and make its way up Swan Street and then into Larkings Street

Traffic Impacts:

Swan Street will be closed from the Bridge to Steane Street from 10 November 2025 with detours in place
Property owners between the Swan Street Bridge and Steane Street will be required to access properties via Larkings Street from 10 November 2025
There will be no through traffic on Swan Street for the period of works, residents will be permitted to access properties
