Rural City of Wangaratta residents are being given plenty of reasons to spend locally this Easter.

Alongside the state-run Victorian Dining and Entertainment Program, Council is also running an Easter themed social media competition celebrating shopping locally. The competition will run from April 1 – April 21 with the lucky winner of a shopping spree valued at over $300 drawn on April 22.

“People are being asked to shop small and make a big difference,” Rural City of Wangaratta Mayor Dean Rees said.

“Let’s celebrate shopping locally this Easter!”

“Keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for this fantastic promotion and details of how to enter the draw” Cr Rees said.

“You will be automatically entered into the Easter Draw if you post a photo of yourself shopping locally during the competition period and hashtag #shoplocalwangaratta.”

From Tuesday 29 March, people can also claim 25 per cent back on the total cost of their entertainment and dining bill when they spend $40 or more as part of the Victorian Government’s Victorian Entertainment Program.

Under this $30m program, launched last month by Minister for Employment Jaala Pulford, the entertainment rebate is available on any day of the week for eligible experiences anywhere in Victoria, including the Wangaratta Performing Arts and Conferencing Centre, Wangaratta Art Gallery and many other entertainment and tourism venues.

For dining experiences, customers can claim 25 percent off their bill when they spend $40 or more between Monday and Thursday. Take away food purchases can also be claimed subject to $40 minimum spend. Note that Friday, Saturday and Sunday dining are not included in the rebate program.

A total of $30 million is available to claim on a first come, first served basis until funds are exhausted. Each customer can claim up to $125 in combined rebates for dining and entertainment experiences. You can submit your claim at www.vic.gov.au/victorian-dining-and-entertainment-program with your proof of purchase or tax invoice, and personal bank account details.

The program encourages people to seek out our world-class entertainment experiences. It will help boost consumer confidence and support the entertainment industry’s recovery.
