Rural Moonlight Movies across the region are about to get a whole lot more comfortable, with the addition of 100 outdoor cinema chairs for community use.
The Rural City of Wangaratta purchased the chairs after successfully applying for an AUSTRADE Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery program to support events to reconnect regional communities.
The deck chairs will be available long term for community groups to use, including at upcoming Rural Moonlight Movies.
Community members got their first glimpse of the chairs at the Grand Opening of the Railway Precinct, while they were also slated for use at Moonlight Movies in Springhurst on 29 May (event on hold) and Everton on 12 May (event to be confirmed, pending restrictions).
These activities provide opportunities for rural communities to connect, raise much needed funds and promote tourism opportunities.
Council’s Events Team Leader Kelly Timms said the deck chairs add fun and atmosphere to events.
“The deck chairs will be available to be loaned out as a resource for community events and community fundraisers across our municipality,” she said.
“This will not only add to our own community events program, but also provide opportunities for community groups to enhance their wonderful events across our municipality.”
