You are invited to meet first time authors Ruth and Don Pollock at the Wangaratta Library on Thursday 29 February at 6pm. These former Victorian High-Country residents will share the joys and challenges of bringing their characters and narratives to life.

In the face of the extraordinary challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ruth and Don Pollock both found solace and purpose in the art of storytelling. International lockdowns meant the couple were unable to continue their homestay holiday business for young students from Asia and Europe. This bought about a dramatic lifestyle change and the couple turned to writing as a means of preserving their family history and legacy.

Meet Ruth and Don as they dive into the captivating worlds they have crafted within their books. From the exhilarating heights of aerial romance in Clouds and Sunshine, to the poignant retelling of the first RAAF unit in Vietnam in Suggy’s Men. And the enduring saga of the Hard family in Hard Women, Ruth and Don offer insights into the inspirations, research, and stories behind the stories.

Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Library staff on 5721 2366 or library@wangaratta.vic.gov.au
