Local business and industry leaders are encouraged to bring their expertise and knowledge to the table and join Rural City of Wangaratta’s Business and Industry Community Reference Group.

This Group will provide advice on sustainable economic development and tourism within the Rural City of Wangaratta as required and will ensure the business community has the opportunity to provide input into the direction of Council.

The Business and Industry Community Reference Group will be convened by Cr Irene Grant, who with Mayor Dean Rees holds the Economic Development Portfolio within Council.

“Formation of this Reference Group is an opportunity for our local business and industry to guide the Council on decisions we make around a range of projects,” Cr Grant said.

“The Reference Group will be made up of representatives from agriculture, construction, education, environment, health, hospitality, and manufacturing, through to retail, tourism, transport, and youth.  The diversity of the group will provide Council with a balanced view of the local economy.”

“Having a large number of varied industries and views will enable a more informed, balanced view for Council to consider when it comes to the economic development and growth of our municipality,” said Cr Grant.
