Rural City of Wangaratta is offering free parking again this festive season to encourage people to shop local this Christmas.

Parking will be free throughout Wangaratta’s CBD between Friday 9 December 2021 and Sunday 2 January 2022, with time limits still applying.

Mayor Dean Rees said the annual tradition of free parking over Christmas is one step Council can take to encourage residents to shop locally and support local businesses.

“This is Council’s way of promoting people to shop local here in Wangaratta,” said Cr Dean Rees.

“Local businesses have weathered some difficult times over the past few years. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we want to do what we can to support them,” he said.

“We are so lucky to have a strong and dynamic business community in the Rural City of Wangaratta, I will certainly be buying local this Christmas and I hope you  are able to put some presents under your tree from our local shops.”

Rural City of Wangaratta is proud to run a Shop Local campaign and thanks local businesses for the quality products and services provided to our community.
