Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure Program This project is funded through the Victorian Safe System Pedestrian Infrastructure Program Funding, Department of Transport and Planning.Council engaged O'LEX Civil Construction to install wombat crossings on local roads within the CBD at strategic locations where pedestrian movements are high. Multipro Civil Pty Ltd have been engaged to construct the Reid Street Pedestrian Operated Signal.
Dog Park Upgrade - Mitchell Avenue Reserve The Victorian Government has committed $13.4 million to build and upgrade dogs parks across Victoria. This program also supports the continued implementation of the Victorian Governments Open Space for Everyone Strategy 2021 with a specific focus on creating custom-designed open spaces in which Victorians and their pet dogs can exercise and socialise in their local communities.
Targoora Park Lighting Upgrade This project will upgrade the lighting on Diamond 1 at Targoora Park, installing new poles and LED lights compliant with baseball/softball competition standards. This will improve safety and visibility, and will address the growing demand for female participation of women and girls in baseball and softball.Project to commence on site in October 2025, with project completion by August 2027.
Milawa Football Netball Club Lighting Upgrade Milawa Football Netball Club received $240,663 through the State Governments 2024-2025 County Football Netball Program. The Country Football and Netball Program is a partnership between the Victorian Government, Australian Football League, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria. The grant will be used for a lighting upgrade at the Milawa Recreation Reserve.
Rowan Street Underpass - Pedestrian Bridge The Rural City of Wangaratta has awarded Heuron Screenline Pty Ltd the contract to construct a new 3m wide overpass pedestrian bridge at the Rowan Street underpass. The project is funded as part of the Inland Rail Project, and are being undertaken to increase the width of the bridge and improve accessibility.
Swan Street Road Reconstruction Wangaratta Excavations have been engaged by Rural City of Wangaratta to undertake road reconstruction works between Steane Street and One Mile Creek bridge abutment in Wangaratta. The works include installation of new drainage pipes and pits from One Mile Creek to Larking Street and Muntz Street intersection.Works are scheduled to begin 10 November and are anticipated to be completed April 2026.
WSAC Power Efficiency Implementation Project The Rural City of Wangaratta will deliver a major energy efficiency upgrade at the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre (WSAC), reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing operational costs. The $1.3 million project is jointly funded by Council and the Australian Government through the Community Energy Upgrades Fund.
Safe Local Roads & Streets Program (SLRSP) The Rural City of Wangaratta will deliver safety upgrades for several key streets across Wangaratta, with $2 million in Victorian Government funding secured through the Safe Local Roads and Streets Program (SLRSP).
Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre - Netball Amenities Wangaratta’s netball community will benefit from new, modern changerooms and amenities facilities at the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre (WSAC), this has been made possible with confirmation of a $3 million grant in partnership with the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund.
