Swan Street Road Reconstruction

Wangaratta Excavations have been engaged by Rural City of Wangaratta to undertake road reconstruction works on Swan Street, Wangaratta. Road closures and detours will be in place.

Prior to works commencing Variable Message Signs (VMS) will advise of road closures.

Construction will commence on site from Wednesday 5 November with expected completion by 15 April 2026. 

Project Overview:

• Road reconstruction works planned between Steane Street and One Mile Creek bridge abutment, Wangaratta
• Works include installation of new drainage pipes and pits from One Mile Creek to Larkings Street and Muntz Street intersection

Timeline:

• 5 November 2025 - 25 December 2025 Drainage works to commence
• 10 November 2025 - 15 April 2026 Intermittent Full Road closure from the Swan Street Bridge to Steane Street 
• Mid-January 2026 - April 2026 Road Excavation works to commence

Traffic Impacts:

• No through traffic on Swan Street between Swan Street Bridge and Steane Street at intermittent time to undertake essential works.
• Swan Street Residents to access properties via Larkings Street while road closures in place.
• During periods of no essential works, through traffic on Swan Street may be permitted and updates will be provided via web site.
• Traffic management will be in place to allow Residents access to properties during the period of works.
