Wangaratta Library will host Australian author Stephen Whiteside on Wednesday 10 June for a discussion on his latest historical novel, The View from Point Lookout.

The book is Whiteside’s third historical work and continues the story of Bill Spargo, who relocates to North Stradbroke Island. Set against the island’s natural landscape, the novel follows Spargo as he lives simply, foraging from the land and searching for peat, echoing his earlier gold prospecting in Victoria’s High Country.

Whiteside has spent much of his life exploring Australia’s alpine regions through walking and skiing. He has written extensively across poetry, short stories and articles focused on history and the natural environment, with works published in Australia and overseas.

The event will appeal to readers with an interest in history and Australian history and Australia's natural environment.

When:  Wednesday 10 June at 2:30pm
Where: Wangaratta Library, 21 Docker St
