Meet the Author – Mark Carr

Wangaratta Library is thrilled to welcome former naval aviator, commercial airline captain, and author Mark Carr.

Born in Wagga and now based in Victoria, Carr’s lifelong passion for aviation took him from his first solo flight at 16 to a distinguished career flying military and commercial aircraft, including the Boeing 747 and Airbus.

His techno-biography Written in the Sky, offers a rare glimpse into the mechanics of flight and the experiences that shaped his journey – from his time as a carrier pilot with the Royal Australian Navy to the turbulent 1989 Australian Pilots’ Dispute and life as an expatriate pilot in Hong Kong.

Join us for an engaging discussion as Carr shares stories from the cockpit, insights into the world of aviation, and reflections on a career spanning decades in the skies. This is a must-attend event for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and anyone fascinated by the art of flight.
