Community members are invited to help guide design of the Glenrowan Heritage Project.
The project involves the construction of a viewing tower in Glenrowan, as well as landscaping of Lions Park.
As a starting point for discussions two concept designs have been developed for the tower. These will be shared with community members at a drop-in session in Glenrowan on Thursday, 4 March from 4pm – 7pm at the Glenrowan Recreation Reserve.
Following the drop-in session the designs will be made available on Council’s website for community consultation for a period of two weeks, with a follow up consultation session at the Glenrowan Recreation Reserve to be held on Thursday, 11 March from 4pm-7pm.
“This is an exciting project that will enhance Glenrowan’s reputation as the home of the Ned Kelly story,” Council’s Director Infrastructure services Marcus Goonan said.
“It’s important to note that this is the first stage in consultation, and we are specifically asking for comments on the tower and landscaping ideas.
“The project also involves virtual and augmented reality storytelling inside – consultation on this will come at a later date.”
The consultation session will be restricted to the Glenrowan Heritage Project, which is being funded by the Victorian Government and the Rural City of Wangaratta. It will not cover off on any Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) planned works for the train line, or bridge.
