On Monday 23rd of June 2025, Councillors joined the Environment & Sustainability team to check out our on-ground projects across our municipality.

The tour included long-term revegetation along the Rail Trail, where thousands of native trees and shrubs have been planted to restore biodiversity, connect wildlife corridors, and provide natural shade.

At Kaluna Island, a culturally significant site for the Bangerang people, the group learned about cool burns, ecological thinning, and ongoing weed control efforts in partnership with Traditional Owners.

The final stop was Council's nursery, where up to 10,000 native trees, shrubs & groundcovers are grown each year from locally collected seeds - supporting sustainable revegetation across our region.
