Milawa Football Netball Club Lighting Upgrade

Milawa Football Netball Club received $240,663 through the State Governments 2024-2025 County Football Netball Program. The Country Football and Netball Program is a partnership between the Victorian Government, Australian Football League, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria.  This Grant will be used for a lighting upgrade at the Milawa Recreation Reserve.

Current lighting issues:

  • Installed over 20 years ago
  • Mounted on short, non-compliant poles
  • Costly to operate and near end-of-life
  • Output of 20Lux, below AFL’s 50Lux training standard

Upgrade details:

  • Installation of 16 high-efficiency 1500W LED floodlights
  • Mounted on 4 x 30m poles
  • Will deliver an average of 130Lux across the oval

  • Safer and more effective training environment
  • Supports growing participation from various groups
  • Enhances suitability for evening community events
  • Improved light coverage allows more users simultaneously
  • 3-phase power upgrade enables solar panel use, reducing energy costs

Timeline:

  • Project commences: September 2025
  • Expected completion: March 2027

Funding:

A grant amount of $240,663 was provided by 2024-2025 Country Football Netball Program.
