Over 3,200 items of feedback from Council Plan’s Community Engagement

The Rural City of Wangaratta would like to thank over 2,000 community members who provided feedback throughout the Community Vision and Council Plan’s engagement process. Between December and March, people shared their feedback through surveys, workshops, targeted engagement, and pop-up events.

From these interactions, Council has produced the Community Engagement Summary Report. The report outlines our community's top 10 priorities for the future, including:

  1. Wangaratta, a place for everyone
  2. Community health and wellbeing
  3. Places and spaces for community connection and culture
  4. Transport, roads and infrastructure
  5. Care for nature and the environment
  6. Cost of living and affordability
  7. Community safety
  8. Violence and harm from alcohol and drug use
  9. Local economy and employment
  10. Communication, accountability and transparency

The report also shares feedback received on the current Community Vision, the strategic objectives of the current and proposed Council Plan, health and wellbeing priorities to aid the development of the Municipal Public Health & Wellbeing Plan, and top spending, funding and resourcing priorities.

Mayor Irene Grant, said:

“The Engagement Report is a key document for Council. It shows what the community has told us and helps guide our decisions moving forward. Councillors and council staff have undertaken a huge amount of work, but most importantly, the community has been very active in supporting the engagement process. I really appreciate what our community have shared. This helps us frame our upcoming Community Vision and Council Plan.”

The Community Engagement report can be accessed via the Connect Wangaratta site. The proposed Community Vision and Council Plan will be shared throughout May and June.
