IMG_4835.JPG

The Victorian Government has committed $13.4 million to build and upgrade dogs parks across Victoria. This initiative supports the Open Space for Everyone Strategy 2021, focusing  on custom designed spaces for dogs and their owners to exercise and socialise locally.

The existing off-leash park will be expanded into two specialised zones:

  • One for large, active dogs
  • One for smaller, passive breeds

Upgrades will include:

  • New fencing and gates
  • Water fountain
  • Play equipment

Community consultation:

  • Community feedback was gathered through a community survey in October 2024
  • The project aligns with Council plans and strategies
  • Once a design is drafted the community will have the opportunity to provide further feedback

Benefits include:

  • Better accommodation of diverse dog-owner needs
  • Promotion of responsible pet ownership
  • Strengthening of community connections

Project Timeline:

  • Construction starts: December 2025
  • Expected completion: April 2026

Funding Acknowledgement:

  • Council was awarded a grant of $100,000 for this project
  • This project is entirely funded by the Victorian Government
