Wangaratta’s Grit and Resilience team is holding its first Heartbeart in July to share with the community what’s happening with the program activities and how to get involved.

The Heartbeat Framework, which was presented to the community in November 2020, outlines how the Grit and Resilience Program will support the community to deliver activities that build positive mental health and wellbeing in the Rural City of Wangaratta.

Under the Heartbeat Framework, the Grit and Resilience team will be connecting with the community every three months to talk about what’s happening with the program activities and how people can get involved.

In July’s Heartbeat, the Action Plans for the three groups under the Program –Creating Connections, Including and Involving, and Postvention – will be available to view and people will have the opportunity to register their interest to participate.

The Plans will be available to access on the Grit and Resilience webpage, social media and using a QR code displayed in local print media, in community venues and on notice boards around the municipality.

Hard copies of the Action Plans will be available at the Wangaratta Government Centre and Library. and can be downloaded from the website.

For those who would rather meet the team in person and have a chat about the Action Plans and ways to participate, there will be an option to come for a cuppa and chat.

Commencing 10 July 2021, the team will be out visiting community groups, local organisations and townships within the Rural City of Wangaratta – locations and times will soon be announced on the website.

“We are encouraging our community members to view the Action Plans and to get involved,” said  Bek Nash-Webster, Grit and Resilience Project coordinator.

“Together we can improve connection and inclusion in the Rural City of Wangaratta and support positive mental health and wellbeing.”

The Grit and Resilience Program is a four-year program aiming to take a community-driven approach to better understand and address mental health and wellbeing in the Wangaratta municipality.
