Council Launches Road Management Video Series
Published on 17 July 2025
The Rural City of Wangaratta is launching a new video series to help residents better understand how local roads are managed, in the lead-up to community consultation on its Draft Road Management Plan. The short, informative videos will be shared across Council’s social media channels.
Mayor Irene Grant said, “We know roads are a top priority for our community. This education series is about giving residents a clearer picture of how we manage our road network and how we prioritise repairs.”
The recent Community Satisfaction Survey highlighted two key areas for improvement: keeping the community informed and providing more information on the condition of sealed roads. This video series aims to address both, offering greater transparency and engagement around road management.
The videos explain how decisions are made regarding road repairs and maintenance, and form part of a broader initiative to make road information more accessible to the public.
Council has also updated its website to include refreshed road management content. This includes frequently asked questions, details on how roads are assessed and repaired, guidance on identifying road ownership, and instructions on how to report a defect. Visit: www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au/roads
The Draft Road Management Plan, currently undergoing its scheduled four-year review, will be open for public consultation in August. The plan outlines how Council inspects, maintains, and prioritises both sealed and unsealed roads. Community feedback will play a key role in shaping the final version.
Residents are encouraged to visit the Connect Wangaratta website to learn more and have their say once consultation opens.
