Domestic Animals Act

The Rural City of Wangaratta Council invites submissions for the Domestic Animal Management Plan.

The Plan outlines Council’s commitment to the management of domestic animals within the municipal district to provide a safe community with a view to minimise dog attacks, encourage pet registration, reduce domestic animal nuisance to the community and promote responsible pet ownership.

Section 62a of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 mandates that all Victorian Councils must prepare a Domestic Animal Management Plan (the Plan) every four (4) years with the Plan to be reviewed annually.

Written submissions can be should be titled “DAMP 2017 – 2021 Public Comment” and can be submitted via email to council@wangaratta.vic.gov.au, posted to PO Box 238, Wangaratta, VIC, 3676 or in person to Customer Service at the Wangaratta Government Centre. 

Written submissions must be received by 5.00pm on Friday 25 October

Draft Event Policy

A Draft Event Policy provides a framework for the assessment and approval of temporary events taking place within the Rural City of Wangaratta. The Draft Policy will be open for submissions until 5.00pm Friday 15 November 2019.


How do I make my written submission?

Documents on public exhibition can be viewed at the Wangaratta Government Centre and online at www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au. 

Any person affected by the Draft Policy may make a written submission relating to the draft documents. 

In their written submission, a person may also request to be heard by a Committee of Council in support of their submission, prior to Council considering the proposal. Submitters will be notified before the relevant meeting date.

Draft Fraud and Corruption Control

Wangaratta Rural City Council (Council) invites submissions for the Draft Fraud and Corruption Control Policy.
The Draft Fraud and Corruption Control Policy outlines Council’s commitment to fraud and corruption control and the approach to prevent, detect, report and take appropriate action in instances of fraud and corruption.

A copy of the draft policy and the associated Community Impact Statement can be obtained from Council’s website at www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au or in hard copy from the Wangaratta Government Centre.

Any person has the right to make a written submission.  Additionally, any person making a written submission is entitled to request to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in their written submission, at a meeting to be heard in support of their submission.

Draft Protected Disclosure Policy

Wangaratta Rural City Council (Council) invites submissions for the Draft Protected Disclosure Policy.

The Draft Protected Disclosure Policy seeks to encourage and facilitate the making of disclosures about improper conduct of the Council, its Councillors, staff and Agents of Council and the disclosure of detrimental action taken in reprisal for a person making a disclosure. 

A copy of the draft policy and the associated Community Impact Statement can be obtained from Council’s website at www.wangaratta.vic.gov.au or in hard copy from the Wangaratta Government Centre.

Any person has the right to make a written submission.  Additionally, any person making a written submission is entitled to request to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in their written submission, at a meeting to be heard in support of their submission.
