IT Systems Coordinator

Full Time
$84,004.36 pa + super

An exciting opportunity has become available for a driven, motivated and energetic IT Systems Coordinator at Rural City of Wangaratta. If you are an experienced systems and network administrator and are looking for a challenge, look no further, we have the role for you!

Leading a small team, your key responsibilities for this position include:

  • To create and maintain a technology infrastructure that is scalable with Councils expanding needs
  • Manage budgets relating to IT Infrastructure requirements
  • Provide 3rd level escalation and problems solving to direct reports, business system team and other staff where needed
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.

Senior Officer – Referrals & Road Safety

Full Time
$75,608.82 pa + super

The Infrastructure Directorate has a full time position available which will provide a great opportunity for gaining experience in customer referrals, liaison with stakeholders and road safety.  

We are seeking someone who has an interest in the following activities:

  • Responding to customer requests regarding engineering matters, liaising internally to ensure that issues are acknowledged;
  • Providing a point of contact for other customer referrals such as footpath activity permits, reviewing and approving works in road permits; and
  • Providing a point of contact for road safety issues, assisting with the management of speed limit requests and developing strategic road safety projects.     

The successful applicant will have well-developed investigation skills, strong attention to detail, be willing to learn about civil engineering practise and have a passion for road safety issues. Applicants who may not have experience in all of the key responsibilities of the position are encouraged to apply. A current driver’s licence is essential.

Sustainability Officer

Full Time
$65,239.20 pa + super

The Rural City of Wangaratta is currently seeking a motivated person for a Sustainability Officer role who will assist Council with the development and promotion of environmentally sustainable events and programs, with the aim to provide Council and the community with information on best practices and guidelines on sustainable living.  This includes the sustainable use of water, energy and resources.

The work will include research, project collaboration, and development of Environmental Sustainable Programs across local LGA, State and Federal agencies as well as community organisations.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in an environmental management, sustainability, education or related discipline and/or relevant training and experience with an understanding of environmental and sustainable issues, impacts and event processes.

It will be essential to have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills and proven report writing and computer skills.  The role involves working both independently and cooperatively as part of a team and will require a current driver licence.

Community Compliance Officer

Full Time (9 day fortnight)
Temporary 12 month contract (until May 2020)
$59,498.40 pa + super

We are currently seeking to appoint a Community Compliance Officer in the area of Local Law Community Compliance on a fixed term contract until May 2020. This role involves the compliance of local laws, traffic and parking, supervision of school crossings and animal control responsibilities. Duties associated with animal control include handling of livestock and domestic animals.

The successful applicant will preferably have experience in animal and stock handling and knowledge of traffic and parking regulations. Strong communication skills will be essential together with an ability to undertake routine repairs to parking meters as well being a team player.

The position is full time with a flexible 9 day roster. The successful candidate will be required to participate in a 1 in 5 week after-hours on-call roster and to hold a current driver licence.

Visitor Information Centre Assistant

Part Time (45hrs/fortnight) 
Temporary 2 year contract
$28.05 per hour

The Wangaratta Visitor Information Centre is staffed by a dedicated and enthusiastic group of staff and volunteers and we are looking for a similar minded person to join our vibrant team, on a temporary 2 year contract. The role will involve working a 45 hours per fortnight, which will include being rostered to work Saturdays, Sundays and long weekends.

This role is predominantly front-of-house, dealing with visitor enquiries and administration duties as directed by the Visitor Information Centre Coordinator, and is located within the Visitor Information Centre as well as at various events and functions in and outside the region.

The position supports the local tourism industry and encourages visitors to spend more time exploring our region.  It is desirable to have good knowledge of Wangaratta and surrounding areas, excellent telephone manner, competent computer skills, experience in retail sales and money handling.

Maternal Child Health Nurses

Casual Position

Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking dedicated nursing professionals who enjoy working with young children and families to provide maternal and child health services in various locations across the municipality.

The position requires current registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia as both a registered nurse and a registered midwife and to also hold recognised qualifications in maternal and child health nursing (or pre 1998 equivalent), current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check.

The successful applicant must have an understanding of providing services within the current Local Government environment and share the MCH team’s commitment to delivering quality health and wellbeing services to families and children. 

Salary is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2016–2021.

Early Childhood Educators

Casual Positions Available
Diploma & Certificate III

We invite applications from suitably qualified Early Childhood Educators to join our team in a casual capacity. These positions involve providing a children’s program and educational practice that is stimulating, engaging and enhances the learning and development of all children, ranging in age from 0 to 6 years, attending our long day child care centre and kindergarten.

You will be required to have an approved Certificate III qualification and/or an approved Diploma level qualification, as per the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations. For all of these roles ideally you will have experience working in centre based child care.  You will also need a sound knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework or the Early Years Learning Framework, and the National Quality Framework, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.
