Waste Management Coordinator

Full Time Temporary
Parental Leave cover until October 2019
$95,052.27 pa + super

The Rural City of Wangaratta has an opportunity for a highly experienced waste management professional to lead Council’s Waste Management Team. This position is responsible for the overall management of internal waste collections, landfill and organic receival operations, 4 transfer stations, waste contracts, waste team staff and external consultants.

You will be responsible for leading the implementation of Council’s Waste Management Strategy, the annual Waste Charge Policy and associated waste budgets. Regular reporting to the Environmental Protection Authority is required to ensure compliance to legislative requirements. You will be required to work with minimal supervision, and have the ability to solve complex problems, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Waste Officer

Full Time
$64,199.20 pa + super

We are seeking a motivated person for the role of Waste Officer. This position will be responsible for assisting in the management of waste services for Council. The work will include analysis and preparation of results and reports on waste for Council, project/contractor management, presentations, workshops and other communications.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline and/or relevant training and experience with an understanding of waste issues, impacts and education processes.

It will be essential to have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills and proven report writing and computer skills.  The successful applicant will be required to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team and will require a current driver licence.

Community Care Worker

General Domestic / Personal Care
Casual
$34.40 per hour (including 25% casual loading)

Council is seeking casual community care workers to provide efficient and caring services for older people and people with disabilities, who require assistance to remain living in their own homes.

Carers are required to be available for occasional domestic support, personal care or respite support which may involve some outside of normal hours work, including weekends and public holidays.

Applicants will be required for immediate start so you must have all of the following prerequisites; Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent, a current Police Record check, a current First Aid Certificate Level 2 and a current driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.

As this position is casual, the hours of work will vary.  Fixed or regular hours cannot be guaranteed.

Executive Assistant – Community Wellbeing

If so, this is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the Rural City of Wangaratta.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and organised Executive Assistant for a temporary twelve month period to provide efficient, effective and accurate executive support Council’s Community Wellbeing Directorate.

Your new role: You will work within Council’s Community Wellbeing Team, reporting directly to the Director Community Wellbeing. This positions supports a team that works across a varied and diverse portfolio of community services including the arts, recreation, aged care, events and early years.

What you’ll need to succeed: We are looking for someone who can switch quickly from one area to another whilst maintaining a cool, calm and positive approach in a very busy office.

You will have strong initiative and know how to use it, and your interpersonal skills will see you handling challenging situations like a pro. Sound organisational skills and experience in Microsoft Office and Outlook, attention to detail and superior communication skills are essential. 

You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team.  The role is a full time position, on a 12 month temporary contract.

Aged & Community Care Services Officer

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic services officer to work as part of a team to promote Council’s Aged & Community Care service to the community; activate consumer service intake processes and work proactively to maintain the compliance with relevant quality standards.

Council’s Aged & Community Care service offers a range of services that enhance and maintain the abilities and independence of eligible individuals so they may remain active members of their community and live independently in their own home.

Gardener

Full Time
$54,392pa + super & allowances

We are seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced gardener who is keen to make a significant contribution to our parks, gardens and streetscapes.  Council is seeking a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude who is customer focused and demonstrate initiative and drive.

This role is required to undertake garden development and maintenance to ensure that the appearance of public areas continues to be maintained to a high standard.  You will need to hold a Certificate III in Horticulture and have demonstrated experience in amenity horticulture involving the development and maintenance of garden beds, playgrounds, turf areas and irrigation systems. 

Excellent communication skills, the ability to work with limited supervision and a current driver licence are essential.  Council requires all staff to demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices and procedures.

Early Childhood Educators

  • Casual – Diploma; $35.66 per hour
  • Casual - Certificate III; $33.09 per hour

We invite applications from suitably qualified Early Childhood Educators to join our casual pool. These positions involve providing a children’s program and educational practice that is stimulating, engaging and enhances the learning and development of all children, ranging in age from 0 to 6 years, attending our long day child care centre and kindergarten.

You will need to hold approved qualifications (either Certificate III or Diploma level qualifications), as per the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations. For all of these roles ideally you will have experience working in centre based child care.  You will also need a sound knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework or the Early Years Learning Framework, and the National Quality Framework, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team.

Maternal Child Health Nurse

Casual Position

Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking dedicated nursing professionals who enjoy working with young children and families to provide maternal and child health services in various locations across the municipality.

The position requires current registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia as both a registered nurse and a registered midwife and to also hold recognised qualifications in maternal and child health nursing (or pre 1998 equivalent), current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check.

The successful applicant must have an understanding of providing services within the current Local Government environment and share the MCH team’s commitment to delivering quality health and wellbeing services to families and children. 

Salary is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2016–2021.
