Road naming

As new roads are built, we need to find appropriate names for them. Sometimes we also need to rename existing roads.

When naming roads, we want to reflect the history and development of the municipality. We also need to abide by the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria. If you want to name new road or rename an existing road, you will need to make an application. The application will then be considered by Council's Place Naming Committee.

Please note, that approval of personal names for roads during the lifetime of the person will only be made in exceptional circumstances. There must also be clear documented evidence of significant contribution to the community or a direct link to the land.
