Excess animals

If you wish to keep more than two dogs, two cats or pigeons in a residential area, you will need  permit.

You also need to ensure that all your pets are registered and kept securely within your property.

Step 1.Gather your documents

To apply for an Excess Animal Permit, you'll need the following document:

Step 2.Visit us

Bring your documents into our Government Centre at 62-68 Ovens Street, Wangaratta. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card

Step 3.Premises inspection

Before issuing a permit, we need to inspect the premises where the animals will be kept. This is to make sure they will be kept in a safe manner and that they do not create a nuisance to any other person. If you pass the inspection, your permit will be issued.

Send a copy of your documents along with a cheque or money order to the Rural City of Wangaratta, PO Box 238, Wangaratta 3676. 

Please make cheques payable to "Wangaratta Rural City Council". Please note that receipts will not be issued for mailed payments.
