The Wangaratta Public Cemetery was established in the 1860s and is managed by the Wangaratta Public Cemetery Trust on behalf of the Rural City of Wangaratta.
The Wangaratta Cemetery is located on the corner of Mason Street and Tone Road, Wangaratta. Access is available to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Operating Hours: Staff are on site 7am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. It may be arranged to have staff on site outside these hours, though this must be pre-arranged with Cemetery staff, and is subject to availability and out of hours fees.
The municipality also has a number of smaller cemeteries dotted around the municipality which are managed by community groups. The Wangaratta Cemetery has a comprehensive database of cemetery information that dates back to 1862. Researchers or family members interested in genealogy can have the records searched. There is a small fee payable for searches of the database.
