Roadworks

See below for a list of current roadworks taking place around the municipality.

Ford & Ovens Streets (August - expected completion September 20019)

Council has successfully obtained funding from TAC to improve pedestrian crossings within Wangaratta's CBD. The project will see the construction of three formalised pedestrian crossings. This includes a raised wombat crossing in Ovens Street, along with zebra crossings at two locations in Ford Street.

Works have commenced and will be completed by September 2019. Traffic management will be in place with slight delays to be expected. 

Cruse Street

A new bridge will be built at Three Mile Creek joining Cruse Street (close to the new Wangaratta Turf Club entrance) a new road will be built adjacent to Bella Vista Way. There will be large construction equipment at Bella Vista Way and Worland Road including Reith Road. Delays are to be expected and local residents are recommended to use alternate roads.

Old School Road Waldara (Begin 17 June 2019 - expected completion late August 2019 - weather permitted)

Minor works are still being completed on Old School Road. The road is now reopen to local traffic. Works are scheduled for completion late August. 

 

Wangaratta-Eldorado Road & Bourke Road (expected completion - late August weather permitting)

Wangaratta-Eldorado Rd and Bourke Rd Intersection rehabilitation works. This project will rehabilitate a 560m length of failed pavement on Wangaratta-Eldorado Rd and improve the safety of the intersection. Asphalting and sealing preparation works have now commenced. It is anticipated the works will be completed by late August (weather permitting)

O'Keeffe Street (Begin 21 May 2019 - Expected completion mid August 2019)

Road work improvements will occur on the northern section of O’Keeffe St and will begin on Tuesday 21 May 2019. Works include removal of existing road pavement and re-construction of new pavement.  Road has now been re-opened to traffic with works expected to be completed mid August

Olive Street Wangaratta (25 July 2019 - 6 September 2019)

Kerb and Channel Renewal - Replacement of existing kerb and channel along both sides of Olive Street and a small section of Swan Street. Olive Street will have one lane closed and will allow access to local traffic only. Minor delays may occur within Olive Street and no delays to occur on Swan Street. Traffic Management will be in place throughout the works.
