The Rural City of Wangaratta’s Strategic Planning team is responsible for the development of strategies, policies and framework plans relating to the municipality’s land use.
The purpose is to ensure that Council’s planning, investment and decision making is relevant to the needs of the community and provides sustainable outcomes for future generations. Council's Strategic Planning functions, including planning scheme amendments are carried out by the Strategy Team.
The Wangaratta Planning Scheme is the guiding and governing document for the use, development and protection of land in the Rural City of Wangaratta. The Scheme sets out Council's vision and objectives for the Municipality and provides key strategies to enable the facilitation of this vision.
The Planning Scheme is continually updated and reviewed, along with new policies and strategies to ensure that planning is current and allows for future investment within the Municipality, which is consistent and relevant to the vision of our community.
