A project aimed at bringing new life to Wangaratta’s Railway Precinct is gaining momentum.
Detailed designs for sections of Norton, Cusack and Docker streets were recently made available to the community to inspect and can be seen below.
This comes after extensive community consultation and adoption of concept designs by Council in November 2018.
The redevelopment will increase connectivity for residents and create a gateway for those arriving into Wangaratta.
More trees and landscaping will create shaded, vegetated corridors while there will also be dedicated bike paths, wider pathways and new pedestrian crossings.
Some $2.5m in State Government funding has been received for the project, while an additional $2.5m has been committed by Council in the 2019/20 Budget.
Construction of the Railway Precinct Enhancement Project is due to commence once the detailed designs are finalised.
