Enviro Events 2019

We're committed to delivering great sustainability and environmental intitiatives, and this year is no different.

Our Enviro Events program for 2019 is packed with workshops and events that all residents can enjoy! Take part in annual favourites including Clean Up Australia Day and our Spotlight Walk and Talk, or join us for exciting workshops at the Library in March, topped off with a new Sustainability Living Expo in August.

4 March | Clean Up Australia Day

Join the Rural City of Wangaratta’s Natural Resource Management team to learn more about our wonderful native wildlife and clean up along the One Mile Creek.

12 March | Boomerang Bag Workshop

Join the Wangaratta Boomerang Bags group to see how bags are created and have a go at making your own!

16 March | Sustainable Fashion Swap and Movie

Time to clean out that closet and swap in your wardrobe for a new, sustainable one!

20 March | Author Talk with Lachlan Walter

Come along for a talk by Melbourne writer and critic Lachlan Walter on his debut science fiction/dystopian novel The Rain Never Came.

30 March | Sustainable Living Expo

Visit the Sustainable Living Expo to meet, chat and discover what our community groups are doing in the municipality in terms of improving sustainable living.

1 May | Spotlight Walk and Talk

Join us to learn about our fascinating nocturnal native animals!

July | Plastic Free July

Imagine a world without plastic waste. That’s our mission – to build a global movement that dramatically reduces plastic use and improves recycling, worldwide.

26 July | School's Tree Day

The Rural City of Wangaratta invites your school to participate in School’s Tree Day to show your support for our local natural environment.

28 July | National Tree Day

Join us to learn more about the importance of bush regeneration and help us plant a range of trees, shrubs and grasses.

August | Sustainable Movie Screening

We will be hosting a screening of a sustainability documentary in August. Stay tuned for more information closer to the date.

September | Biodiversity Month

Biodiversity Month is held in September each year and aims to promote the importance of protecting, conserving and improving biodiversity both within Australia and across the world.

15 September | Sustainable House Day

Sustainable House Day is a wonderful opportunity to visit some of Australia’s leading green homes.

13 - 19 October | National Water Week

National Water Week is designed to assist the community to understand and take action to protect and conserve our precious water resources and habitats.

11 - 17 November | National Recycling Week

Planet Ark founded National Recycling Week to focus on the environmental benefits of recycling. Check back closer to the date for more information.
