Land Protection Incentive Scheme
The Rural City Council of Wangaratta in conjunction with Trust for Nature coordinates the Land Protection Incentive Scheme. The scheme is available to landholders within the municipality that are voluntarily protecting areas of remnant vegetation on private land through the Trust for Native Conservation Covenant Program.
Up to $1,000 per annum is available to landholders who have approved conservation covenants on their properties. This payment is to assist landholders in the ongoing preservation of these precious biodiversity assets through activities such as fencing, weed spraying and vermin control.
Trust for Nature assesses the site to determine the area that contains high quality remnant vegetation and then maintains regular inspections through its stewardship program.
