Parks, Gardens and Reserves

The Rural City of Wangaratta has over 80 parks and reserves.

Listed below are some of the bigger parks, as well as information on the addresses and amenities available at parks across the municipality.

Merriwa Park

Merriwa Park

Tucked away within Wangaratta’s CBD sits Merriwa Park a large community park, surrounded with River Red Gums and scenic ponds. The park has playground, BBQ and toilet facilities and open reserve area.

Apex Park

Apex Park

Located on the north entrance to Wangaratta, just off Parfitt Road on the edge of Wangaratta’s CBD. The Park is positioned on eight acres of open reserve and provides CBD parking opportunities for tourists travelling with caravans, toilet and BBQ facilities and a large playground. Kids love the spiral slide.

Mitchell Avenue Park

Mitchell Avenue Park

With a splash park operating throughout summer and a flying fox running throughout the year, Mitchell Avenue Park is a favourite for children and families. The park also features a playground and amenities, all in an open setting.

Northern Beaches

Northern Beaches

Northern Beaches is a 10.5 hectare reserve nestled alongside the Ovens River. It can be accessed via College Street, Wangaratta.

King George V Gardens

King George V Gardens

Situated in Ovens Street in the heart of Wangaratta’s CBD, this picturesque park is lined with mature majestic Plane trees providing shady conditions for a relaxing picnic. The park offers playground and toilet facilities.

Batchelors Green

Batchelors Green

Positioned on Wangaratta’s South entrance (Tone Road) the park provides a perfect rest area with Plane tree shade, a large BBQ and picnic area, playground and toilet facilities.
