15th May - Spotlight Walk and Talk - Online Premiere
The Rural City of Wangaratta’s calendar of Enviro Events continues with an opportunity for community members to learn more about our fascinating nocturnal native animals. Council had planned to run the annual guided spotlight walk around Mullinmur Billabong in May, however due to restrictions around Covid-19 this year the event will run as a virtual tour. Council’s Natural Resource Management and Sustainability team have put together a video which explores the natural habitat and biology of animals including gliders, possums, bats and owls.
Rural City of Wangaratta Natural Resource Management and Sustainability Coordinator, Scott Draper said ‘while we can’t engage face to face at this time, it is still important to provide an educational experience for our community to learn more about the ecology and value of our local natural spaces. We hope to foster community involvement in the stewardship, enjoyment and preservation of these areas. We hope that this video will inspire people to grab a torch and venture out after dark in their own backyards to explore.’
