Marketing Strategy Endorsement

Community information will now be developed on the process to formulate a meaningful logo for the Rural City of Wangaratta.

It comes after Council endorsed the Marketing Strategy, using the existing logo as its foundation.

The decision was made at the August Ordinary Meeting of Council. It was also decided that “over a period of six months consultation will take place with the custodians of our land and others to formulate a meaningful logo, which may well mean acceptance of the present logo, but which may represent the wishes of the citizens of the Rural City of Wangaratta, our rivers, wine, cheese, agricultural producers and local businesses.”

Mayor Dean Rees said the decision meant Council could press ahead with marketing activity aimed at growing investment and attracting new residents and tourists.

“The Council recognizes the strong emotional attachment parts of the community have to the current logo and has listened to that feedback,” he said.

“We’re not going to rush the logo – we’ve said all along that the logo was a small part of a comprehensive marketing strategy to grow our region. That marketing work can begin now.”
