Walk to School 2018
Walk to School month is a fun and easy way for Victorian primary school kids to build healthy habits for life.
The Rural City of Wangaratta in partnership with YMCA, Goulburn Ovens TAFE, Northeast Health Wangaratta & Gateway Health has successfully obtained funding through VicHealth to promote and roll out the 2018 Walk to School program from the October 8 to November 2.
We are very excited to announce that all 21 primary schools in the Rural City of Wangaratta are registered for this year, breaking our record from last year of 19 out 21 schools. This year there will be a key focus on safety; that means that children will be learning about walking safely to and from school, and generally increasing their daily exercise. Fruit and vegetable boxes will also be delivered throughout the month which will allow the opportunity for children to get involved with healthy eating too.

We currently have a survey out to help us understand the safety concerns that children, parents and teachers have for walking to and from school. It would be great if you could take a short couple of minutes to provide your insight. These survey results will help to inform our program for Walk to School 2019.
