Seniors Festival 2018

From live music delights to bus tours exploring the region, this year’s Seniors Festival offers a myriad of opportunities for senior citizens to enjoy.

The festival’s program was launched today and offers dozens of events throughout October that will showcase the local region and offer exciting social, culinary and educational experiences for participants.

A free concert from Beatles cover band Rubber Soul on 16 October at the Wangaratta Performing Arts and Convention Centre headlines this year’s festivities.

There will also be a Positive Ageing Expo at the HP Barr Reserve on Tuesday, 9 October.

Mayor Ken Clarke OAM said seniors were in for a treat throughout the festival.

“The Positive Ageing Expo will be a great way for seniors to find out about all the services and programs available in the community,” he said.

“There are so many free events on offer, with everything from table tennis, to crochet, mahjong.

“A highlight will be the Garden Concert – ‘Swing into Spring’ in King George Gardens on 21 October. Come along and hear Wangaratta’s own Jazzaratta and don’t forget to bring a picnic.”

Copies of the Seniors Festival program can be found online at the Rural City of Wangaratta’s website, in hard copy at the Wangaratta Government Centre foyer and at participating community groups. Details for how to book into events can be found in the program.
