Plastic Free July
Council is encouraging the community to embrace the Plastic Free July challenge.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that began in Western Australia and now has millions of participants worldwide. It challenges people to give up single-use plastic for the month of July.
Council is running a photo competition, asking community members to show how they are going plastic free this July.
The competition runs for the month of July and participants need to use the hashtag #plasticfreewangaratta to enter. People can enter as many times as they like.
The prize for the best plastic free photo will be a hamper of sustainable alternatives to plastic, including a bamboo toothbrush, stainless steel drinking straws, bamboo clothes pegs, stainless steel water bottle, beeswax wraps, Boomerang Bags and organic soap berries, recycled aluminium foil.
