Coronation Kinder Funding
The Rural City of Wangaratta has been successful in obtaining a major grant for the upgrade of Coronation Kindergarten.
The upgrade will provide an expanded playroom, new toilets, new entry area, office space and a kitchen.
With a total project cost of $455,032, a grant of $334,500 has been received as part of the Victorian State Government’s 2017/18 Early Learning Facility Upgrade grant program.
The Coronation Kindergarten upgrade is being undertaken in partnership with the Victorian State Government, the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Coronation Kindergarten committee of management.
The kindergarten is managed and operated under license by North East Pre-School Association (NERPSA) and the upgrade will provide for increased capacity and revitalise the existing 60 year old building to ensure that best practice under the requirements of Education and Care Services National Regulations are being met.
It is expected that the works for the upgrade will commence in August and be completed in December this year. Council is working with NERPSA and Coronation Kindergarten to seek temporary space whilst works are underway later in the year.
“Research shows that children who have a stimulating, supportive and healthy start to life are more likely to do well later in life,” Mayor Ken Clarke OAM said.
“The upgrade of Coronation Kindergarten will offer children welcoming and accessible facilities with modern, bright and practical areas for learning and play.”
