2009 Bushfires Ten Year Anniversary Event

A community barbecue and picnic will be held at the Bowmans-Murmungee Hall at 7pm on Saturday, 23 February 2019.

The event has been organised to commemorate the Ten Year Anniversary of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires.

The event will be open to all residents in the Rural City of Wangaratta, but has been located at Bowmans Murmungee due to its close association to the Beechworth-Library Road Fire on Black Saturday.

Council received $5000 through DELWP’s 2009 Victorian Bushfires Commemoration and Community Development Grants Scheme for the purpose of holding this community event.

There will be some live music at the event and the Wangaratta Lions Club will cater the barbecue.

The event is free but RSVPs are sought for catering purposes. Please RSVP to 5722 0762, w.daly@wangaratta.vic.gov.au or council@wangaratta.vic.gov.au.
