About Mark Currie
Raised and educated in Wangaratta I have a true passion for what Wangaratta offers and I want to be part of assisting it in reaching its full potential.
I grew up in Yarrunga attending the Yarrunga Primary School and later the Wangaratta Technical College. As I transitioned into work, like many other Wangaratta residents I found myself working in Manufacturing at both Bruck Textiles and the Australian Country Spinners.
With a desire to continue my education I undertook part time studies in Accounting at Charles Sturt University in Albury while maintaining my fulltime employment. Once qualified, I transitioned from Manufacturing into the Finance sector followed by Local Government before finding my calling in the Not for Profit sector.
I ran for Council with a focus on growing Wangaratta’s Economic Development opportunities to ensure that Wangaratta remains an attractive and viable city. My vision is that we are a transparent Council who actively engages with the community to deliver outcomes that make Wangaratta a better place to live, work and play, and that we’re proud to call our home.
Councillor Mark Currie is the Deputy Mayor of the Rural City of Wangaratta.
He was elected at the 2016 council elections in the Warby Ward.
