City planning
The Rural City of Wangaratta is a vibrant regional centre of over 29,000 people.
Our residents experience the the perfect balance of employment and lifestyle opportunities. Our main industries include tourism, health, manufacturing, agriculture, retail and education.
Our projects aim to achieve sustainable growth for our current and future residents.
The Wangaratta Project: CBD Masterplan
The Masterplan outlines how the CBD should be developed to support our community. Key projects are the revitalisation of Ovens Street and King George V Gardens, and the Railway Precinct Enhancement Project.
Creative Marketing
Our Marketing Strategy aims to increase tourism and drive business and population growth. We recently updated our branding and collateral to make it more modern. We will also be running campaigns to attract visitors, investment ad new residents.
Aquatic Strategy
We have taken over operation of the The Wangaratta Sports and Aquatic Centre and will be transforming this into a regional aquatic facility. We have built a state of the art FINA standard 50m pool, warm water pool and refurbished the interior. Visit our Aquatics Project to find out more.
Organic Processing Plant
We recently constructed one of the first Council-run organic processing plants in Victoria. The plant processes 4000 tonnes of organic waste a year. It has the capacity to grow and take on waste from other municipalities in the future.
