Primary prevention of violence against women

Rural City of Wangaratta is currently funded to facilitate the primary prevention of gendered and family violence.  Primary prevention efforts are targeted to reach everyone in our community, with the aim of addressing the underlying causes of violence against women and preventing violence against women before it starts.

Previous Events: Preventing Family Violence - A Community Conversation

Disasters such as bushfires and COVID-19 are associated with increased rates of family violence. Join this powerful and thought-provoking community conversation to understand why these links occur and how we in the Rural City of Wangaratta community can work together to prevent family violence before it starts. This forum was held in April 2022, featuring Donna Wheatley (FSV) as moderator, and with a presentation from Dr Debra Parkinson on the connection between bushfires and family violence. Panelists for the evening were Celeste Liddle, Carly Findlay, and Clementine Ford.
