Tourism Event Grants

Community groups, tourism operators and festival organisers in the Rural City of Wangaratta are invited to make their event dreams come true through Council’s Tourism Event Grants Program. 

The program aims to support the growth of events that increase visitation to the region, enhance Wangaratta as a holiday destination, attract key target markets, provide an economic benefit, enhance the culture of the community, support and enhance the local tourism strengths, or grow an existing event to become financially viable and sustainable. 

Grants of up to $2000 are available for minor events, and up to $5000 for major and marquee events, with applications now open, and closing at 5pm on Friday 15 October. 

Cr Harry Bussell believes Wangaratta and surrounds hosts some amazing events that attract attention from across Victoria, Melbourne and southern NSW.   

“We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to our region and hosting a vast array of vibrant events in 2022”, Cr Bussell said.   

“Eligible event organisers are encouraged to apply. Past events that have received funding include the King Valley Balloon Festival, La Dolce Vita and many more great events”  

“This round there is a total of $20,000 available to eligible events, and may include costs associated with marketing, promotional materials and advertising, strategic or business plans for event development, new innovations or additional activities to expand an event program or costs associated with securing or hosting an event” 

Events supported under this program must take place between January 1 and June 30, 2022, and have a strong tourism focus that demonstrate the potential to the region as a destination for tourists.
