Rural City of Wangaratta, in partnership with local businesses, is hosting a weekend aimed to inspire local residents to get out and explore all there is to offer in our beautiful region.
Hospitality, retail and service businesses are throwing open their doors with a range of exciting one-off deals across the weekend of 25-26 March so that we can all build our knowledge of what we have available right here at home.
“It’s time to reconnect with our local area, taste the local produce, visit some beautiful wineries, and pop into one of our wonderful galleries to see what’s on offer,” said Rural City of Wangaratta Councillor Irene Grant.
“It will be a perfect weekend to visit different hospitality, service, and retail businesses so that next time your family and friends visit you have all the up-to-date information to be their tour guide!”
“From Glenrowan to Boorhaman, Whorouly and Eldorado through Milawa, Oxley and Moyhu and into the King Valley – there is so much to see and do around the municipality.”
Milawa Bread will be participating in the weekend offering product samples and demonstrating the milling process with owner and baker, Adam Rivett, keen to get involved.
“This will be a great opportunity for us to show locals what we do, show them the passion behind our products and really work towards building knowledge of local products and producers in our own community,” said Mr Rivett.
The Explore There’s More weekend on 25-26 March aims to equip locals with a weekend of enticing enjoyment so that experiences and knowledge of our area can be passed on to visitors.
“Visiting family and friends are the largest percentage of Rural City of Wangaratta’s tourists so this weekend is about upskilling us all,” said Cr Grant.
“Mix a short walk with a bookshop visit, a bite to eat with a chance to shop for some new homeware, Autumn is a stunning time to really enjoy Rural City of Wangaratta!”
