Community Grants

Community groups and not-for profit organisations in the Rural City of Wangaratta are invited to make their project a reality through the Community Grants Program.

The program aims to help community organisations deliver projects that help improve accessibility and equity, provide cultural or arts experiences, increase community resilience, safety and well-being, or encourage healthy behaviours.

Grants of $1,000 to $10,000 are available, with applications opening this Friday 16 July, and closing at 4pm on 1 October 2021.

Mayor Dean Rees encouraged eligible community groups to register for the upcoming information sessions so they can find out more about the program.

“We’ve always had a strong response from the community for these grants, and through the years we’ve helped groups with a broad range of activities, including delivering events and training, upgrading equipment, making their programs more accessible, and more,” he said.

This year a minimum of $20,000 will be earmarked for projects with an Accessibility focus.

“There are so many ways groups can make their programs more accessible to the community, whether it’s equipment to support people with disability to participant in community groups, or training in Easy English or Key Word Sign,” said Tegan Allen, Council’s Community Accessibility and Social Isolation Officer.

In person community sessions will be held over the coming weeks in Wangaratta, Tarrawingee and Moyhu:
