One of the things that make the Rural City of Wangaratta such a beautiful, liveable municipality is the magnificent array and diversity of trees.

Trees provide shade in the summer, screening   from winter winds, have aesthetic values (improve local streetscapes), provide homes with habitat corridors for native birds, insects and animals, buffer noise, and in some cases improve the value of our homes. So growing a healthy urban forest is Important to all of us.

Trees and vegetation also enhance air quality, assist soil stabilization and can assist in the control of ground salinity.

The Rural City of Wangaratta is fortunate enough to enjoy an array of Heritage Trees. To find out more about heritage tree’s within the Rural City of Wangaratta view ‘The History Surrounding Wangaratta's Heritage Trees’  brochure below, where you will follow a self guided heritage tree walk.
